Of particular importance is the emerging science of Molecular Hydrogen Therapy. Molecular Hydrogen is a  medical gas, used in Chinese hospitals for sepsis and severe shock, and having very powerful anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. New research and clinical experience show it has a vital part to play in the current global crisis. Implementation of this research has been a key contributor to China’s success in controlling the COVID-19 outbreak.

In recent years, following major breakthroughs in the treatment of viral infections, the Chinese have developed devices that deliver a combination of breathable hydrogen and oxygen. The scientific evidence reveals the potential for the treatment to act in 2 ways:

1) Build immunity through an enhanced immune system.

2) ) Significantly reduce the moderate-severe symptoms to mild-unnoticeable symptoms.

How does H2  help COVID-19 patients?

The Chinese have proved it based on scientific breakthroughs made in China and Japan within the past 20 years. They have machines available that deliver the hydrogen and oxygen the body needs to prevent and overcome the infection. A new study of 450 COVID-19 patients who had breathable hydrogen and oxygen will be published in a few days. All of them survived from breathing hydrogen and oxygen.

What is hydrogen?

Hydrogen is the smallest element, and the lightest.Why is this important? Hydrogen is vital to countless biochemical reactions and interactions within the body. It can enter into the powerhouses of the cell, the mitochondria. There are hundreds of mitochondria in the cells, up to 5,000 in heart cells. The cells work by receiving oxygen from the lungs and glucose from the digestion of food which they turn into energy for life and the carbon dioxide and water vapour which the lungs breathe out.

What is this energy? It is in the form of ATP (adenosine triphosphate). This is the only form in which the body can use energy and it is produced in the mitochondria of the cells.

Damaged Red Blood Cells

Hydrogen can undo the damage to the red blood cells that is caused by the COVID-19 virus. What COVID-19 does is to target the red blood cells causing the iron in these cells to become a free radical.

When there is sufficient hydrogen in the body the hydrogen neutralises the iron free radicals but most people are lacking the hydrogen needed to do this. In effect COVID-19 damages the red blood cells so that they cannot transport the oxygen needed by the body and that means the oxygen cannot get into the cells (similar to the effect of carbon monoxide poisoning). The word heme (US English) or haem (UK English), as in haemoglobin, is derived from Greek haima meaning “blood”.

What else does hydrogen do?

Hydrogen is the best anti-inflammatory and the best anti-oxidant. It targets the two most important free radicals found in the body. In a viral infection the body heats up and the cells become overloaded and die. Hydrogen cools the fire and gives the cells the chance to overcome the virus.

The main reason why hydrogen is so effective is its small size. It does not have to travel along veins and arteries but can directly reach and energise the cells of your body including your heart and brain if the blood supply is in jeopardy. It assists the mitochondria to function. A scientific study demonstrated that the membrane of cells is permeable to hydrogen which can protect mitochondria and the cell nucleus from acute oxidative stress.

Our health is inextricably linked to the numerous functions of our mitochondria. They are minute and each of your heart cells may have 5000 of them. And because hydrogen has no electrical charge it will enter the mitochondria and assist in the production of ATP. In simple language, the hydrogen molecules assist the mitochondria to do battle with hostile elements that have invaded the cell. A decline in your mitochondrial functioning throughout the body, and therefore in your level of ATP production, will make you age quicker and make you more prone to illness.

The hydrogen molecules assist with the flow of calcium in and out of a cell’s mitochondria which is very important for supporting healthy cells. Mitochondrial antiviral signalling protein (MAVS) plays a key role in the response to viral infections, helping to induce antiviral and anti-inflammatory response to infection.

By supporting the health of the mitochondria, the hydrogen molecules assist them to continue releasing proteins in response to cell stresses such as heat, infection, lack of oxygen, increased calcium and nutrient deprivation. Disturbances to this regulation are associated with the development of diseases such as cancer, and also tissue damage following a stroke. Hydrogen molecules are also involved in the transfer of mitochondria to blood stem cells in response to infection.

Oxygen Ventilators

The current procedure using ventilators Currently, the treatment of choice for seriously ill COVID-19 patients is to put them on ventilators but, as the clinical experience is now showing, this may be doing more harm than good. The following YouTube video by a very concerned New York hospital doctor describes the negative results of using ventilators with COVID-19 patients.

Dr Cameron Kyle-Sidell MD a board-certified emergency medicine physician at Maimonides Medical Center, Brooklyn New York has posted a devastating video in which he describes the damage to patients being caused by putting them on ventilators. Dr Kyle-Sidell says that patients need oxygen but not pressure. The ventilation treatment now being used for many of the hospitalised COVID-19 is not doing them any good — and may be doing them real harm. Dr. Kyle-Sidell says it became clear to him early in the process of treating COVID-19 patients that he was dealing with a new disease. But it was also clear that the treatment being employed does not fit the disease.

Coupled with that, according to this article in Business Insider, 80% of NYC’s corona virus patients who are put on ventilators ultimately die, and some doctors are trying to stop using them:

What is a cytokine storm ?

Diseases such as covid-19 and influenza can be fatal due to an overreaction of the body’s immune system called a cytokine storm.

Hydrogen is possible the best selective antioxidant to deal to deal with a cytokine storm.

Conclusion

The key point that stands out to me when I read this article ,COVID-19 virus has an atypical glycoproteins to target the heme of our red blood cells. (Haemoglobin) In doing this, it releases a toxic oxidative iron ion which can no longer bind to oxygen. Slowly our haemoglobin is saturated with the COVID-19 virus and not the iron that bonds to the oxygen to energise our body. It has the same mechanism as carbon monoxide poisoning, in which CO is bound to the haemoglobin, making it unable to carry oxygen. In these cases, ventilators aren’t treating the root cause; as the patient’s lungs aren’t ‘tiring out’, they’re pumping just fine. The red blood cells just can’t carry what they are supposed to carry – our oxygen.

This article, though the data is unsourced, and  aligns with the scientific  documents in this post it is suggesting that this is possibly, a very useful avenue for enquiry and piloting. Using hydrogen as a medical gas would seem to help address the covid 19 outbreak in the UK, as it is showing it has helped Covid 19 patients in China.
